Monaca PA- Penn State Beaver softball dominates against Penn State Greater Allegheny at the Beaver field house. Today's double header that would lead to a blow out for the team for Beaver Softball.
The first game took off with fire for Beaver as they scored six runs within the first inning. The team also played amazing defense for the entire game only allowing Greater Allegheny two runs for the entire game. Those runs were achieved in the second and fifth inning. While scoring repeatedly during every inning. Starting the scoring train off in the first inning was fifth year Valentina Sandoval (Miami, FL). This would lead the team to score six runs in the first inning. Followed by seven runs in the second inning, in which the scoring streak was started by fourth year Kylie Magnotta (Monaca, PA ), who earned her run after third year Maria Matts (Pittsburgh, PA) hit a double gaining two RBI's. From there Beaver kept the success going, scoring nine runs in the third inning, four runs in the fourth inning. Some of these runs were scored by third year Victoria Farrell (Allentown, PA), Second Year Hayley Reed (Tampa, FL), and first year Bailey Vavricek (North Las Vegas, NV). Beaver would end the game with the final score of 24 - 2 taking the win in the first game.
As the second game began Beaver Softball kept the momentum from the first game. Within the second game the team played another round of amazing defense, not allowing Penn State Greater Allegheny to score any runs the entire game. They would also dominate on the offensive end as well, scoring 9 runs within the first inning. Some of which were achieved by first year Bailey Vavricek (North Las Vegas, NV) and second year Megan Crane (Moon, PA). As the game continued Beaver Softball took their foot off the gas scoring only two runs in the second inning. This was done by first year Haley Cook (Aliquippa, PA ) as she stole home. Followed by fourth year Kylie Magnotta (Monaca, PA). The team scored another two runs in the third inning as well. Within the fourth inning the team ended up not scoring any runs at all ending the game in the fifth inning with the final score of 13 - 0.
Penn State Beaver Softball ended the day on a high! They are set to play again as they hit the road to play against Penn State Fayette on April 20! Make sure to keep up with the team all at beaveratheltics.com.
