Brandywine Knocks Off GA For Second-Straight Win

MEDIA, Pa. -- Bryce Barrouk (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) and Colin Hockenbrock (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) combined to score 50 points as the Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team defeated Penn State Greater Allegheny 79-67 to wrap up an 2-0 weekend Saturday afternoon.

Barrouk shot 11-of-17 from the field and poured in 27 points, while Hockenbrock made 10 of his 13 shot attempts, scoring 23 points, while adding a team-best eight rebounds.

Brandywine got off to a hot start from the field, making 11 of its first 15 field goal attempts as the Lions built a 29-14 lead through 10 minutes. Carrying the scoring load for the Lions were Barrouk and Hockenbrock, who combined to net 19 of Brandywine's 29 points.

Greater Allegheny made a late charge, cutting the Lions' lead as low as three points on two occasions during the final minutes of the opening half, but Dean Kane (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) sank a layup with six seconds to play and Brandywine held a 42-36 edge through 20 minutes.

The Lions' lead surged to 15 points following a pair of Hockenbrock buckets and a Barrrouk triple nine minutes into the second period. Three minutes later, the margin reached 17 points, the largest of the afternoon, as Hockenbrock sent down a thunderous dunk and Barrouk added a jumper.

GA answered with 15 of the next 21 points to get within eight at the 3:51 mark, but Barrouk's jumper ballooned the lead back to double figures where it would stay for the duration of the game.

Jordan Graves (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) added 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Lions, while Kane tallied 10 points and six boards.

Brandywine shot 53 percent from the field and netted 22 points off 19 Greater Allegheny turnovers.

Brandywine will break for finals before returning to the court on New Year's Eve for a 3:00 PM game at Division II Millersville.
