Baseball Cruises Past Vermillion (MN) 9-2

Penn State Greater Allegheny cruised to an impressive 9-2 victory over Vermillion CC.

The bats came alive for Greater Allegheny on Tuesday night, led by Sophomore right fielder Mike Visloski's (West Allegheny) 3 RBIs. Freshmen Tyler Amrhein (Montour) and Scott DIerdorf (Hopewell) also added 2 RBIs a piece, with Dierdorf's coming on a 2-run home run to left field.  Fellow freshmen Bill Hodgetts (West Mifflin)  and Adam Wehr (Northwestern) also added an RBI each.

Sophomore starting pitcher Matt Braburn (Baldwin)(1-0) earned the victory tossing 5 innings, while allowing just 1 run on 4 hits, and striking out 5 batters.  Freshman Pitcher Brian Balagurchik(Notre Dame Academy) took care of the final 2 innings, giving up 1 run and striking out 3.

Penn State Greater Allegheny improves to 4-1 on the season. The lions will be back in action on Thursday as they continue their southern trip with a doubleheader with Miami-Middletown, first pitch is 1:00 p.m. on Field 3.
