Baseball Opens Season February 20th Against California (PA)
McKeesport Pa- The Penn State Greater Allegheny baseball team will now open its 2012 season with a Monday, February 20th game against 39th-ranked California University of Pennsylvania (1-1). The Vulcans are members of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), and participate in the NCAA-Division II. First pitch is set for 1 PM, with the game taking place at CONSOL Energy Park in Washington, PA.
California (PA) split its opening doubleheader against Mars Hill (N.C.), and returns two preseason all-region players from a team that went 30-18 in 2011. The 30-win total marked the seventh time in eight seasons that they would reach this plateau. California is led by 16th-year skipper, Mike Conte.
