White Outlasts Blue in Annual Blue and White World Series
McKeesport, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny men's baseball program concluded its 2013 fall season with its annual Blue/White World Series this past weekend. The team gets divided into two separate groups and they battle in a three-game series.
In game one, Blue overcame White, 2-0. Blue team freshman right-handed pitcher Danny Daly threw five innings while only allowing one hit. Both freshman second-baseman Brian Casiano and freshman outfielder Gabriel Casals slammed a double apiece, Casals earning the RBI.
During game two, junior Matt Klena pitched four innings while only allowing two hits. Freshman catcher Francisco Del Rio had a double and contributed with 2 RBI. Junior first-baseman Matt Warhola also contributed a double alongside a RBI. On the Blue side, senior right-handed pitcher Eric Schell threw a three inning shutout. White surpassed Blue, 5-0.
To conclude the day, White narrowly overcame Blue, 1-0. Senior outfielder Tyler Kugler lined a one out, bases loaded single in the bottom of the 7th to clinch the series win for the White squad.
