Evans Throws No Hitter

(Butler, PA)

Nate Evans threw a no hitter in game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader to give Greater Allegheny wins in both games on a beautiful day for baseball. Evans went 7 innings, struck out 5, and picked up his first win of the season.

When asked about the experience, Evans said, "It was electric. Being able to see all my teammates rushing towards me after getting that last out with Raymond over at first (good play), it was great."

Evans had plenty of help.

Vinnie Martin went deep for his third homerun of the season and added 3 RBI's (6 total for the day) and Douglas Painter scored 3 runs, stole 5 bases, and collected 2 hits.

Painter sits in second in the PSUAC with a .464 batting average and 4th in stolen bases with 13. Martin currently leads the league in runs batted in with 21.

In Game 1, Adam Wilson went 6 2/3 innings, struck out 5, and picked up his 3rd win of the season. Tyler Elliot added 3 RBI's, 2 of which came in the bottom of the 6th on a 2 RBI single.

Joe Schulte scored 3 runs added 2 hits. Schulte is also leading the PSUAC in stolen bases with 15.

GA goes to New Kensington on Sunday for the final game of the series.
