Men's Basketball Drops Last-Second Heartbreaker

McKeesport, Pa- How close the score was and how the game was lost doesn't make this one any easier for the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball team. Penn State Brandywine made a last second shot to send the PSUGA squad to a 2-5 record. PSUGA got the ball back with only .8 seconds left but was unable to get a shot off in time.

Penn State Brandywine had no answer inside to match up with Jon Schmid, the Junior Center from Chicago Illinois. He had a very productive game with 21 points and 9 boards, narrowly missing a double-double. Sophomore Forward Aaron Byrd from Upper Malboro, MD came on strong in the second half of the game and finished with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Junior Guard Mike McCarthy of Sto-Rox high school finished with 18 points and 8 assists, including a back-from-the-dead, game-tying 3-pointer with just seconds remaining, after seemingly leaving earlier with a devastating injury. Freshmen Forward Zach Smith from Ringgold high school had a double-double with a 10 point, 10 rebound effort.

This game was hotly contested and physical. Coach Clyde Manns has to be pleased with his squad's effort.  They'll look to rebound at 3 p.m tomorrow against Penn State Schuylkill.
