McKeesport, Pa- The Penn State Greater Allegheny Lions prevailed in double overtime over their counterparts from Penn State Schuylkill this afternoon. They overcame a 6 point halftime deficit to tie it up and force overtime. A tie score at the end of the extra period led to another overtime where they seized a victory, 76-73.
Junior Guard Mike McCarthy (Sto-Rox) led all scorers with 20 points. Despite being outrebounded, GA's bigs still managed to contribute. Sophomore Forward Aaron Byrd of Upper Malboro Maryland had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Center Jon Schmid (Glenbard West) had another big game on the score-sheet with 16 points. Freshmen Guard Robert Taylor (Peabody) also finished with 16 points.
The Men's team followed a winning effort by the GA Lady Lions with one of their own, improving their record to 3-5 overall, and 2-2 in the PSUAC. The GA men return to the court Monday, December 5th, as the host Penn State Du Bois for an 8:00 PM tip-off.
