Second Half Rally Comes Up Short For Men's Basketball

McKeesport, Pa- A huge second half come back led by Sophomore Forward Aaron Byrd's (Dr. Henry A. Wise) 27 points and 8 rebounds, ran out of steam, as GA fell to PSUAC foe Penn State Beaver (11-4, 7-1), 87-77.  A raucous home crowd for GA helped the men overcome a 20 point deficit late, closing the gap to just 8 points. A jumper by Byrd, with 2:13 left to play, was as close as the GA men would get.

GA shot an impressive 52% from the field, but comitted far too many errors. An intense trapping defense and 1-3-1 press from Beaver forced 31 GA turnovers, that directly contributed to 23 points for the visitors.

Freshman Guard Robert Taylor (Peabody) scored 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, while Sophomore Guard Nick Dizon (Woodland Hills) added 13 and 6.

With the loss, GA now holds a 5-10 overall record, and dropped to 3-6 in the PSUAC. The GA men will return to action next Wednesday, January 25th, as they travel to Penn State Du Bois for an 8 PM conference game.
