McMunn's Big Night Leads Men's Basketball to 70-47 Win in PSUAC Opener
McKeesport, Pa- Freshman guard Jeremy McMunn (Pittsburgh, PA) scored 20 points on 7-11 shooting - including 4-8 from behind the arc- to lead Greater Allegheny to a 70-47 victory over PSUAC foe, Penn State New Kensington.
Junior forward Nick Dizon (Rankin, PA) was the only other GA player in double-figures, with 17, while also grabbing nine rebounds. Freshman guard Eric Cottman (Philadelphia, PA) tallied a season-high nine assists, to go along with his five points. Two Greater Allegheny big-men hit double-digits in rebounds, with sophomores Patrick Malcolm (Washington, D.C.) and Marcus Green (Pittsburgh, PA) snatching 10 and 11, respectively.
GA seized control of the paint, earning a 43-32 rebounding advantage over the New Kensington front-court while also outscoring them 26-16. As a team, the men shot 41.9% (26-62) from the floor, and an impressive 41.7% (10-24) from three-point range.
The win improves Greater Allegheny to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the PSUAC. They return to action this Friday, November 30 for an 8 PM game at Penn State Brandywine.
