Men's Basketball Earns Second PSUAC Win On 1-1 Weekend

McKeesport, Pa- The Greater Allegheny men's basketball team improved to 2-1 in the PSUAC following their 1-1 weekend.  GA first fell 89-56 at the hands of Penn State Brandywine (3-2, 2-0 PSUAC) on Friday evening, then used a double-double from junior forward Aaron Byrd (Upper Malboro, MD) to help defeat Penn State Schuylkill (1-3, 1-2 PSUAC) 83-73, on Saturday afternoon.

  Freshman guard Chris Dixon (Homestead, PA) and junior forward Nick Dizon (Rankin, PA) each scored 13 points and had five rebounds in the loss to Brandywine.  Senior center David Menzies (McKeesport, PA) chipped in eight points and had six rebounds.

    Byrd tallied 28 points and 13 rebounds in the win against Schuylkill, going 12-14 (86%) from the charity stripe.  Freshman guard Jeremy McMunn (Pittsburgh, PA) scored 14 points, with Dizon (13) and Dixon (12) also reaching double-digits.

  The victory pushes Greater Allegheny to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the PSUAC.  They return to the court this evening for a 7 PM game against Westmoreland CC.
