Greater Allegheny Senior Men's Hooper Byrd Earns USCAA Accolade

Newport News, Va. - Penn State Greater Allegheny's men basketball senior forward Aaron Byrd (Upper Marlboro, Md./Dr. Henry A. Wise) was recognized by the USCAA by earning the distinction of Men's Division II Basketball Player of the Week for December 17, 2013.

The GA Lions played in two Penn State University Athletic Conference games throughout the last week. In the Penn State Beaver loss, Aaron poured a team-high 29 points along with ten rebounds, seven of them being offensive. He completed 52.6% (10-of-19) of his shots from the floor alongside 90% (9-of-10) of free-throws attempted.

In the nail-biting loss over Penn State New Kensington, Byrd assisted the efforts against New Ken by dropping 20 points and seven assists. The forward played all 40 minutes, completing 52.9% (9-of-17) of shots taken.

Over the two games, Byrd averaged 24.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game while shooting over 50% both games.
