GA Men's Hoops Suffers Penn State University Athletic Conference Setback

Lemont Furnace, Pa. - In a PSUAC match-up, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball team traveled to Penn State Fayette, Wednesday night, where GA saw the short end of the stick, 94-72.

To open the game, five Greater Allegheny hoopers earned points to put them ahead of Fayette, 10-9. Junior guard Petrie Addison (Fort Myers, Fla./Florida Christian) earned two from the free-throw line to send the two PSUAC teams in a tie at 12. From there, Fayette swelled 13 points above GA. Dizon and freshman guard Eric Moody (Philadelphia, Pa./New Media Technology Charter) combined efforts and put up seven with just eight to play before halftime. Sophomore guard Chris Dixon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Steel Valley) dropped a ringer of a three-pointer followed up by a Moody lay-up. Byrd, Dizon and D. London all added tallies to the GA score before halftime, but was not enough, as the away team trailed 49-30 to go into the second half.

Moody opened up the final twenty by dropping a three-pointer and a jumper before Dizon dumped a jumper. Senior forward Aaron Byrd (Upper Marlboro, Md./Dr. Henry A. Wise) added six points to the Lion tally before Dixon hit another clutch three-pointer. Greater Allegheny continued to plug away with additions continued from Byrd and Moody. Dizon dumped five points with just three minutes left to play, 84-60. Byrd, Dixon and Moody made their presence known, as they were each able to contribute toward their team. Freshman guard Denzel London (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) capped off the Greater Allegheny scoring drive, as he hit a ringer of a three-pointer before the final buzzer expired. Penn State Greater Allegheny (2-14, 1-6) found themselves on the downside, allowing Fayette to take the win, 94-72.

As a team, Penn State Greater Allegheny brought in 38.5% (30-of-78) of their shots taken from the floor alongside putting in 38.9% (7-of-18) of their attempts at the free-throw line. GA narrowly out-rebounded 41-40 as well as completing 38 points in the paint and 16 points off of the bench.

Moody earned a career-high 19 points in the defeat, as he added 50% (9-of-18) of his shots taken from the floor. Byrd was not far behind, as the forward dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. Byrd completed 36.8% (7-of-19) of his shots taken from the floor and bucketed 100% (2-of-2) from the charity stripe. Dizon contributed 15 points and pulled in eight rebounds for his Lions as Dixon hammered three trey's to total nine points through twenty minutes.

The men look onward to Friday, as Greater Allegheny welcome Penn State York to Wunderley Gymnasium. Greater Allegheny men are set to tip-off at 8 p.m., after the conclusion of the women's contest.
