Greater Allegheny Men's Basketball Drops to Penn State Mont Alto, 87-51

Mont Alto, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball team traveled to Penn State Mont Alto to participate in a Penn State University Athletic Conference match-up, where GA succumbed, 87-51.

Mont Alto jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead before senior forward Aaron Byrd (Upper Marlboro, Md./Dr. Henry A. Wise) dropped a jumper three minutes into play. Mont Alto continued to drop buckets as junior guard Petrie Addison (Fort Myers, Fla./Florida Christian) completed a jumper along with dropping two off free-throws. Senior forward Nick Dizon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) earned five consecutive points before Addison's four, GA trailing 32-15.

Freshman guard Denzel London (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) hit a ringer of a three-pointer to surge the GA offense. Byrd was next up to answer toward the Greater Allegheny tally before Dizon and Addison each contributed a free-throw point. Greater Allegheny would head into halftime behind Mont Alto, 42-22.

The first five minutes of the second half was quiet, as Mont Alto continued to press on. Addison and Byrd comprised of the first 14 points achieved by Greater Allegheny, as GA found themselves on the short-end of the stick, 69-36. Freshman guard Eric Moody (Philadelphia, Pa./New Media Technology Charter) answered with a huge three-pointer, followed by a jumpshot along with an and one foul shot. D. London capped off another lay-up with just five minutes to play.

Sophomore guard Chris Dixon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Steel Valley) came in clutch, as he hit a trey outside the arc, GA down 75-47. Sophomore Peter Olumese (Switzerland/College du Leman) got his licks in before the clock expired, as the guard tallied a lay-up. D. London would complete the scoring drive, as he laid one in the paint to polish off his team. The deficit was just too much to overcome, as Greater Allegheny (4-16, 3-8) fell to Penn State Mont Alto, 87-51.

Addison put up 18 points and twelve boards, as the 6-6 guard dumped 85.7% (6-for-7) of his shots from the free-throw line. Byrd put up nine points along with two rebounds as Moody and Dizon matched one another with six apiece.

As a team, Greater Allegheny dropped 22 points in the paint alongside earning 58.8% (10-of-17) from the charity stripe.

The men look onward to tomorrow, as Greater Allegheny is set for a 3 p.m. Penn State University Athletic Conference match-up against Penn State Hazleton.
