GA Men's Hoops Stays Consistent to Down Lehigh Valley, 67-64

McKeesport, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball team keeps close with Lehigh Valley through forty minutes of regulation, as GA takes their third consecutive Penn State University Athletic Conference victory, 67-64, Friday night.

Within the first five minutes of play, the floor heard from senior forward Nick Dizon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills), senior forward Aaron Byrd (Upper Marlboro, Md./Dr. Henry A. Wise) and freshman guard Eric Moody (Philadelphia, Pa./New Media Technology Charter), boosting GA 11-4. Junior guard Petrie Addison (Fort Myers, Fla./Florida Christian) next answered with a ringer of a trey followed by a lay-up to continue the swell.

Lehigh Valley battled back to tie the score at 16 before Byrd took charge and dropped six on the LV defense, 22-16. Sophomore guard Chris Dixon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Steel Valley) completed a lay-up before freshman guard Denzel London (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) earned four more points for Greater Allegheny. Dizon earned two more before Moody earned both free-throws attempted. D. London answered with a three-pointer, which was the final tally before halftime, GA up 35-31.

Addison and Byrd comprised of the first twelve points toward the GA tally, which ended in a trey deposited by Addison, 47-41. Dixon earned a lay-up before D. London made another jump shot. Addison lifted the Greater Allegheny by going on a remarkable 13 point run to eat the clock over ten minutes, Greater Allegheny keeping the pace the entire venture. Dixon posted a lay-up before D. London made the final slash with a completed free-throw. The Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball found themselves on their third consecutive win ride with the Lehigh Valley overtake, 67-64.

Addison closed the game with a double-double, as he tallied 26 points and pulled down 18 boards in the win. Addison completed 58.3% (7-of-12) from the free-throw line alongside dishing out seven assists and grabbing four steals. Byrd went 50% (7-of-14) from the floor as he added 15 points and nine rebounds. D. London assisted the squad by going 57.1% (4-of-7) from the floor, putting up ten points.

As a team, Greater Allegheny went 55% (11-for-20) from the free-throw line alongside going 40% (26-of-65) from the floor. GA out-rebounded Lehigh Valley 44-34, assisting in the overthrow. The Greater Allegheny men's offense managed 34 points in the paint and 14 points off of 17 Lehigh Valley turnovers.

The men's basketball team, now with six wins in the conference, is set to travel with the women for an afternoon double-header at Penn State DuBois. The men's Penn State University Athletic Conference match-up is set to tip-off at 3 p.m.
