Men's Hoops Closes 2013-14 Campaign with a 74-67 Win over Schyulkill

McKeesport, Pa. - Through forty minutes of regulation, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball team took a 74-67 win over Penn State Schyulkill to end their regular season action, Sunday afternoon.

To kick off the scoring drive for Greater Allegheny, junior guard Petrie Addison (Fort Myers, Fla./Florida Christian) and sophomore guard Chris Dixon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Steel Valley) slammed down two consecutive three-pointers to put GA over Schyulkill, 6-3. Jumpers contributed from junior guard Matt Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Mastery Charter) and freshman guard Denzel London (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) lifted Greater Allegheny's momentum. Addison comprised eight points through two minutes, with Williams, D. London and senior forward Nick Dizon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) peppering in additional buckets, GA up 24-13. D. London and Addison added lay-up's before Dixon hammered down a three-pointer with less than two minutes to play until halftime. Addison and Dizon managed a free-throw apiece to ride out the remaining plays of the first twenty, Greater Allegheny on top 35-28.

Addison gained two free-throws before Schyulkill got barraged by the Greater Allegheny sharp-shooters. Dixon laid a trey on the Schyulkill defense before Addison clobbered down two consecutive three-pointers, GA lifted 46-31. D. London made two lay-up's before Dixon added another to continue the GA swell. Addison then completed two at the free-throw line before senior power forward Aaron Byrd (Upper Marlboro, Md./Dr. Henry A. Wise) dumped four points toward the GA tally. Two minutes pass as Addison, Byrd and D. London answer back to Schyulkill's accomplished points, 66-50. 

With five minutes to play, D. London and Addison answer with two points apiece. Byrd contributes the final points added toward the Greater Allegheny score, as the senior completed a lay-up and a jumper. Schyulkill managed a few more points after Byrd, but efforts were not enough as Greater Allegheny withstood Schyulkill, 74-67.

Addison closed the game with 30 points dropped for the PSUGA tally, as he completed 64.7% (11-of-17) of his shots taken from the floor. Addison also pulled down 14 boards and dished out five assists. D. London came off the bench to supply 16 points and give out eight assists. He completed 66.7% (8-of-12) of his shots taken from the floor as the freshman grabbed five rebounds. Dixon also came off the bench to go 80% (4-of-5) from the floor and 75% (3-of-4) from the three-point line. The sophomore added eleven points and boarded eight rebounds. 

As a team, Greater Allegheny completed 47% (31-of-66) from the floor alongside banking 60% (6-of-10) from the charity stripe. The team also out-rebounded their Penn State University Athletic Conference match-up, 52-39. GA managed to turn ten Schyulkill turnovers into 18 Greater Allegheny points. The team posted 42 points in the paint, boosting their chances to win.
