California, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball team traveled to California University of Pennsylvania, Monday evening, where GA dropped to the Division II institution, 108-70.
Greater Allegheny came out hot to start the match-up. Sophomore guard Denzel Boyer-London (Coatesvlle, Pa./Coatesville) made a layup before senior forward Petrie Addison (Fort Myers, Fla./Florida Christian) added four, GA up 6-3 just two minutes into the contest. Freshman guard Khari Hicks (Pittsburgh, Pa./Imani Christian) drained a three-pointer before California (Pa.) made their way back. Boyer-London completed a jumper before junior guard Chris Dixon (Homestead, Pa./Steel Valley) banked a trey to keep GA in the lead six minutes in the game.
California (Pa.) took the lead before freshman guard Tony Patterson-Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Roxborough) slashed both free-throw attempts. Addison added three before Hicks hit another trey. Hicks put up a jumper as freshman guard Antonio Lucic-Jozak (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) made a basket from the foul line to complete the scoring tally for Greater Allegheny through the first half, Cal leading 45-25.
Sophomore forward Carl London (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) banked a layup before Hicks made a jumper, 53-29. Boyer-London finished two free-throws as Patterson-Brown answered with five points, including a trey. Addison made a layup as London hammered a three with less than ten to play in regulation. Hicks and Patterson-Brown matched each other with three points apiece before Hicks put down a three, California (Pa.) still ahead 94-52.
Addison put up two free-throws as Boyer-London aced all four given. Hicks hit a three-pointer and a layup while Boyer-London rode out the scoring tally with a three-pointer, a layup and two completed free-throws, California University of Pennsylvania leading Greater Allegheny 108-70 as the clock wound down to zero.
As a team, Greater Allegheny shot 72.0% (18-of-25) from the free-throw line as they 24 points in the paint and 20 points off turnover and second chance.
Hicks put up 21 points though the contest, while completing four three-pointers and eight buckets from the floor. Boyer-London added 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists while going 72.7% (8-for-11) from the foul line. Addison dropped 13 points with eight rebounds while Patterson-Brown drained ten points with six rebounds coming off the bench.
Greater Allegheny (4-5, 1-0 PSUAC) takes a bit of a break for fall and comes back for a double-header with the women. PSUGA is set to travel to Westmoreland County Community College, December 3rd, for a tip-off scheduled after the women's match, around 8 p.m.
