Greater Allegheny Men's Basketball Records Setback over Worthington-Scranton

Dumore, Pa. - In the final match of a Penn State University Athletic Conference weekend, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball team dropped a 78-66 decision over Penn State Worthington-Scranton, Saturday afternoon.

Freshman forward Tony Patterson-Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Roxborough) bucketed the first points of the game for Greater Allegheny with a jumper. Senior forward Petrie Addison (Fort Myers, Fla./Florida Christian) banked a pair of jumpers as Patterson-Brown added another jumper. Freshman guard Jashaun Fontanez (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) tied up the game at eleven with a completed three-pointer. Freshman guard Khari Hicks (Pittsburgh, Pa./Imani Christian) added a set of jumpers as Patterson-Brown added another, Greater Allegheny ahead 17-13.

Addison and Hicks match one another with a jumper to continue the GA lead. Fontanez drained a trey as Addison and Hicks banked a jumper apiece, Worthington-Scranton tied up with GA at 28 with just six minutes left to play. Worthington-Scranton managed to go on an eight-point run as Hicks put down a jumper to send the two teams into halftime, the home team up 36-30.

Fontanez and Addison comprised the first points for Greater Allegheny in the second-half with jumpers. Freshman guard Antonio Lucic-Jozak (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) dropped a set of jumpers before completing four free-throws atempted, Worthington-Scranton ahead 47-44 just six minutes in. 

Hicks and Addison put down jumpers before Patterson-Brown went 4-for-4 to put Greater Allegheny up and over Worthington-Scranton with eight minutes left in regulation, 54-53. The home team managed to pull away from GA a bit before junior guard Chris Dixon (Homestead, Pa./Steel Valley) added a a free-throw. Addison went on to pepper Worthington-Scranton with two jumpers and a three-pointer to bring the score to a GA deficit, 70-62.

Lucic-Jozak tacked on a foul shot as Addison put down a jumper with just a little over a minute left of action. Freshman forward Eddie Davis (Philadelphia, Pa./Roxborough) added on the last point for Greater Allegheny with a free-throw, Greater Allegheny falling to Worthington-Scranton, 78-66.

Addison completed the game with a double-double, as the senior bucketed 60% (12-of-20) of his shots taken from the floor, adding 25 points with ten rebounds. Hicks came off the bench with 12 points while putting up two boards, two assists and two steals. Patterson-Brown netted ten points with six rebounds as he completed 100% (4-for-4) from the foul line.

As a team, Greater Allegheny earned 57.9% (11-of-19) of their shots taken from the free-throw line while the men completed 38.2% (26-of-68) of their shots taken from the floor. GA deposited 19 points off second-chance while they out-rebounded the home team, 52-51.

Greater Allegheny (7-15, 4-9 PSUAC) take a few day break before they host Penn State New Kensington for another Penn State University Athletic Conference match-up. The men are set to tip-off at 7 p.m. on Wednesday February, 4th in Wunderley Gymnasium.
