McKeesport, Pa. - Four Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball players recorded double-digit numbers, Friday night, in the 100-84 Penn State University Athletic Conference triumph over Penn State Lehigh Valley.

Junior forward Curtis Newby (Sharon, Pa./Sharon) was the first to answer in the game as sophomore guard Jordon Payne (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) hammered down a three-pointer. Lehigh Valley took the lead 8-5 before senior guard Moe Alli (Edison, N.J./Cardinal McCarrick) laid down a layup and one, tied at eight. 

Payne knocked down another three as junior guard Jeremy McMunn (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) added a jumper. Alli continued to run the Lehigh defense with a trey, 16-11 GA. Newby put up four straight as Alli zipped up six himself, including four from the foul line. Sophomore guard Juwan Ledbetter (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) added a pair of free throws as Payne knocked down another trey, 33-29 GA witih seven minutes until half.

Sophomore forward George Prota (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) put down a layup and a free-throw as Newby drained three himself from the line as the Lions continued to score. Senior forward Jumanne Butler-McDaniel (Franklin, N.J./Cardinal McCarrick) buckled the visiting defense with a three before Alli matched him. Payne completed two free-throws before ending the half with a good three-pointer, Greater Allegheny leading at half 50-43.

McMunn came out of the break with a jumper and a three-pointer to send LV into a quick time out just over a minute in. After the time out, McMunn silenced with another three as Prota marked a jumper, 60-47 three minutes into the new half of action. 

McMunn continued to ignite the offense with a pair of bangers from outside the arc. Butler-McDaniel kept the trend going with a three of his own before Newby made another layup, 73-53. 

Alli and junior guard Khari Hicks (East Hills, Pa./Imani Christian Academy) continued to answer in the paint as Payne put down four from the foul line off of a pair of LV technicals, 83-64 GA with less than ten minutes remaining in regulation. 

Newby denoted four more before McMunn added two from the foul line. Freshman guard Duane Tymous (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) forced a turnover and returned it for a huge fastbreak layup before junior guard Denzel Bouer-London (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) added a free-throw point, 94-72 with four minutes on the clock.

Alli downed a layup and one as freshman guard Connor Paoletti (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) drained a deep three-pointer to end the game, 100-84.

Newby noted a double-double with 21 points, 13 rebounds and two assists as the forward earned 69.2% (9-of-13) of his shots from the floor. Alli came off the bench for 20 points with seven boards and a steal as he deposited all six of his free-throw opportunities. Payne also made all six attempts at the foul line along with four treys, tallying 19 points, four assists, three boards and a steal. McMunn got hot with 18 points, three rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block.

As a team, Greater Allegheny was tied in rebounds with 46 as the men earned 80.8% (21-of-26) of their shots from the foul line and 44.6% (33-of-74) from the floor. The Lions added 26 points in the paint, 25 points off turnovers and nine points off second-chance.

Greater Allegheny (13-4, 7-1 PSUAC) looks forward to hosting another PSUAC contest, Saturday afternoon, for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
