"New Era" of Men's Basketball and more in the Weekly Basketball Recap

Penn State Greater Allegheny Completes First Week of The "New Era" of its Men's Basketball Program with Multiple Victories and a Great Showing at Division 1 Morgan State University!

The first week of Penn State Greater Allegheny's "New Era" of Men's Basketball included victories over Carlow University and CCAC as well as a great matchup with Division 1 Morgan State University.

Penn State Greater Allegheny opened up the season with a game against a veteran Aquinas College team out of Michigan. Greater Allegheny held an early lead, but Aquinas's hot 3-point shooting was too much to overcome. For Greater Allegheny, 6'6 Freshman forward Bryce Phillips led the way with 15 points and 6'4 Freshman forward Jeremiah Miller and 6'0 Junior guard Marquest Rainey added 10 points each. 6'5 Freshman forward Brandon Graham added 7 points and 5 rebounds and 6'4 Freshman guard Damon Gamble Jr. added 5 points and 6 rebounds.

Penn State Greater Allegheny came back the next day and won a great game with a 94-81 victory over NAIA's Carlow University, who had just come off a great win over Pitt-Greensburg. Greater Allegheny's suffocating defense and powerful offense word down the Celtics in the second half as Greater Allegheny outscored Carlow 52-33 in the that half. Greater Allegheny shot over 90 percent from the Free Throw line, finishing making 20 of 22 free throws. Great Performances were put in by Jeremiah Miller (19 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists, 6 of 6 FT), 5'9 Freshman point guard Stalin Oaks (18 points, 2 3-pointers, 6 of 6 FT), 6'3 Freshman guard Chris Killings (13 points, 2 3-pointers), Bryce Phillips (12 points, 12 rebounds) and 5'9 Sophomore guard Casey Oliver (12 points). The highlight of the game was a fast break dunk by 6'4 Freshman forward Cameron Rodney (https://twitter.com/PennStateCoachF/status/1457299345196339202?s=20)

On Thursday, November 11th, Penn State Greater Allegheny headed to Baltimore, MD for its first NCAA Division 1 matchup against Morgan State University, who is predicted to make the NCAA Tournament this season. Greater Allegheny was a bit nervous in the first half and had to adjust to Morgan State's tremendous size and athleticism, however the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half were a virtual tie, which was a great building block for the program. Stalin Oaks, Bryce Phillips and 6'4 Freshman forward Isiah Edmundson all scored in double figures for Greater Allegheny.

Penn State Greater Allegheny kept the momentum going this past Saturday, with a 90-52 victory over CCAC. Jeremiah Miller, Stalin Oaks and Chris Killings all scored in double figures. 20 PSUGA players participated in this game and many got their first Varsity points.

Over the week of November 15th to 20th, Penn State Greater Allegheny will host Penn State Beaver and go to Penn State Wilkes Barre and Penn State Scranton in PSUAC matchups.
