Phillips Goes Over 1,000 points, Others Closing in on Milestones

McKeesport, PA -

Tuesday night saw 6'6, junior, forward Bryce Phillips score his 1000th point at Penn State Greater Allegheny in a 90-84 win over Penn State Fayette.

Phillips accomplishment is one of many recent positives for the program collectively and individually. Phillips was also named USCAA and PSUAC Player of the Week before the Thanksgiving Break.

Men's Basketball Team was honored for its strong start to the season by being named PSUAC Team of The Week for the week November 13th to 19th.

The team has started off the conference season by knocking off 2 of the Top 4 ranked teams and perpetual powers Mont Alto & York, which has them in First Place in the conference. Nationally, PSUGA is ranked 7th in the USCAA Coaches Poll, however they beat the #4 ranked team by 24 points, so they will likely be heading up the rankings.

In addition to Phillips going over 1000 points, 6'3 junior guard Christopher Killings and 6'4 junior forward Jeremiah Miller are also approaching 1000 points. Killings needs less than 150 points and Miller needs 200 points. Killings was named PSUAC All-Conference in 2021-22 and Miller was named PSUAC All-Conference in 2022-23 and also was awarded the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award that season.

Head Men's Basketball Coach Daryn Freedman is only 25 wins away from his 300th Career Head Coaching Victory. Freedman has served as Head Coach at Brimmer & May School in Massachusetts (2001-2005, 4 Conference Championships and 1 New England Prep School Championship in 4 Seasons), Duquesne University (2006-2007, Interim Head Coach for Duquesne's victory over Top 25 ranked Boston College while Head Coach Ron Everhart was hospitalized), Kiski Prep School in Pennsylvania (2009-2014, 5 Conference Championships in 5 Seasons, Ranked as high as #3 Nationally among Prep School Programs), Gateway High School (2014-2018, 1 Section Championship) and Penn State University – Greater Allegheny (2022-23 PSUAC Champions).

Men's Basketball returns to action this weekend with a trip to Penn State Brandywine and Lehigh Valley.
