Continuous Shooting Lands GA Men's Soccer a 3-0 PSUAC Triumph

White Oak, Pa. - To increase their Penn State University Athletic Conference record to an even 3-3, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's soccer team dominated Penn State Worthington-Scranton, Saturday afternoon, by a tally of 3-0.

The Penn State Greater Allegheny offense came in prepared for this PSUAC match-up. Just ten minutes into the game, sophomore forward Marin Marina (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) welcomed a beautiful serve from sophomore midfielder Nick Andrews (Penn Hills, Pa./Serra Catholic) to the right side of the net, taking the ball to the left of the goalies hands, 1-0 GA.

The remainder of the first half rode out with the 1-0 GA lead, while the offense peppered Worthington-Scranton with 21 shots to their four.

The second half began to get alot more heated than the first. Just eleven minutes into the second half action, freshman defender Belmo Nurkic (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) moved the ball to freshman midfielder Ricardo Dip (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth) who lofted the ball into the upper 90 degree angle of the net, putting the hard shot into the mesh, 2-0 Greater Allegheny.

Just over a minute later, Dip took the ball to goal where he hammered the shot off the goalies gloves and into the back of the net, lifting the home team to a 3-0 victory.

To wrap up the contest, the GA Lions outshot Worthington-Scranton, 43-11, through the 90 minute outing. Dip posted 12 shots, seven being on goal. Marina ripped six shots, five being on target. Both Nurkic and sophomore forward Jake Thieret (Port Vue, Pa./South Allegheny) connected on five shots a piece, combining five on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alex Wood (Rockville, Md./St. John's College High) faced eight shots on goal, not allowing a single one past him. This marks the second shut-out victory for Wood through the 2015-16 season.

The Penn State Greater Allegheny Lions (6-3, 3-3 PSUAC) looks forward to Tuesday, as they get out of Penn State University Athletic Conference play and travel to La Roche to play their reserve team. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m.
