On a glorious late summer afternoon, Greater Allegheny Men's Soccer played Carlow University at home for their first competitive contest of the season. Carlow pulled out a 4-3 victory despite a late push from GA to make it almost level.
The game started well for GA, Caleb Johnston (Independence, KS/ Independence High School) scored the opening goal just over a minute into regulation on an assist from Donovan Woytsek (Elizabeth, PA/ Elizabeth Forward HS) and GA was off to the races.
Carlow quickly equalized making it 1-1.
Donovan Wotysek came up big again scoring the second goal of the game for Greater Allegheny and the first of this career.
Carlow pushed for a late goal in the 1st half and equalized on a nice counter attack making it 2-2 at the half.
Carlow was a better side in the second half scoring 2 to make it 4-2.
Stuart Dare (Mifflintown, PA/ Juniata HS) found the back of the net for Greater Allegheny with less than a minute left in regulation but was just a little too late.
18 new players for Greater Allegheny made their debuts.
Greater Allegheny heads to Pitt-Greensburg on Sunday for a 4pm kick off.
