Mont Alto, Pa. - Through the final day of Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) action at Penn State Mont Alto, the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's softball team split the pair of seven inning contests, 7-1 and 9-5.

In game one, MA managed four runs in the third, two in the fifth and one in the sixth to give the home team a staggering 7-0 jump. 

The bottom of the sixth brought a GA run as freshman third baseman Raeann Sleith (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) singled to center-field to bat home freshman catcher Sydney Fritchman (Carnegie, Pa./Carlynton), 7-1 Mont Alto.

Fresman right-handed pitcher Savannah Simm (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) threw two and 1/3 inning with one strike-out. Freshman right-handed pitcher Lacie Lautner (Pleasant Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) threw for four and 2/3 innings, sitting five of her 20 batters down on strike-out.

Sleith went 2-for-3 with one RBI as three others nabbed a hit.

Game two started in MA favor, as the home team noted five runs in the top of the second inning.

Senior right-handed pitcher Shelby Bendick (White Oak, Pa./McKeesport) doubled to left-center to score freshman third baseman Michaela Henderson (Bowie, Md./Bullis School). Fritchman singled to left field to score Bendick before Simm sinfled to left to score Fritchman, 5-3 MA.

A run in the fourth and a run in the fifth lead to a tie game, five all. Both Henderson and Lautner accounted for the runs leading up to the sixth inning.

Bottom six brought a Bendick triple to left-field, scoring Henderson. Sleith singled to right-field to score Bendick before Simm singled up the middle to score freshman first baseman Morgan Lancaster (Wellsburg, W.Va./Brooke High), 8-5.

Freshman outfielder Shalonda Eley (Prosper, Texas/Prosper High) grounded out to the second basean to score Sleith, ending the game in a 9-5 Greater Allegheny decision.

Lautner took her fifth win of the season in game two, as the freshman pitched five and 2/3 innings, sitting down eight of her 24 batters down on strike-out. The righty allowed just four hits as Bendick allowed just three in her time spent on the bump.

Simm went 3-for-4 with three RBI as Henderson hit 2-of-2 with three runs scored herself. Bendick went 2-for-4 with two runs and a pair of RBIs.

Greater Allegheny (5-9, 4-6 PSUAC) looks to play Penn Stte Beaver, Monday afternoon, for another pair of PSUAC contests. The first pitch is set for 2 p.m.
