Pittsburgh, Pa. - With a 6-2 game one win and a 11-4 drop in game two, the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's softball team welcomed Penn State Beaver to Woodland Hills High School, Saturday afternoon, for a Penn State University Athletic Conference double-header.

Greater Allegheny posted three runs in the bottom of the second inning as freshman left-fielder Hailey Maksin (Port Vue, Pa./South Allegheny) doubled to score freshman shortstop Savannah Simm (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin), freshman right-handed pitcher Lacie Lautner (Pleasant Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) and freshman third baseman Raeann Sleith (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin), 3-0.

The bottom of the third brought another Lion run, as Sleith grounded out to score senior outfielder Shelby Bendick (White Oak, Pa./McKeesport), 4-0 GA.

Beaver got on the board in the fifth before freshman catcher Sydney Fritchman (Carnegie, Pa./Carlynton) singled to score both Bendick and freshman second baseman Michaela Henderson (Bowie, Md./Bullis School), 6-1 GA.

One more for Beaver in the top of the seventh finished game one with a GA win, 6-2.

Lautner pitched a complete seven-inning game, as the freshman sat down seven of her 30 batters on strike-outs.

Bendick went 2-of-3 with two runs scored as Maksin went 1-of-3 with three runs batted in. Fritchman posted two RBI with 1-of-3 at the plate.

Game two began with a Beaver run in the top of the first and four in the top of the third before GA got on the board.

The bottom of the fourth brought a freshman outfielder Courtney Shadd (Hanover Park, Ill./Bartlett) ground-out to push Lautner to score. Maksin reached first base on an error by the third baseman to score Simm, 5-2 Beaver.

Beaver added four in the top of the fifth before Greater Allegheny put up one run in the bottom of the inning.

Lautner singled to bat home freshman first baseman Morgan Lancaster (Wellsburg, W.Va./Brooke High), 9-3.

A Beaver run in the seventh finished the visiting team tally as Sleith finished off the game with a home run, 11-4 Beaver.

Lautner put up five innings on the mound as Simm finished the last two.

Sleith and Lautner both went 2-of-4 with one run and one RBI each while four other nabbed a hit each.

Greater Allegheny (10-12, 9-9 PSUAC) looks onward to the final regular season game of the season, as Penn State Fayette meets the Lions at Gateway High School in Pittsburgh. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
