Greater Allegheny Softball Falls to Fayette in Two Games

Lemont Furnace, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's softball team dropped a pair of Penn State University Athletic Conference games to Penn State Fayette, Wednesday afternoon, by tallies of 3-0 and 7-3.

In game one, Fayette put up one run in the third and two in the fifth to result in the 3-0 shutout. 

Game two started out with three runs in the first and four in the second to go up to a quick lead.

Freshman third baseman Raeann Sleith (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) scored in the second before the Lions were held off the scoreboard until the seventh.

Senior outfielder Shelby Bendick (White Oak, Pa./McKeesport) singled to bat home freshman shortstop Savannah Simm (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin). Freshman first baseman Morgan Lancaster (Wellsburg, W.Va./Brooke High) singled to bat home Bendick, 7-3 Fayette.

Simm went two innings on the mound with one strike-out as Lautner came in to close the final five innings with four strike-outs.

Sleith went 2-of-3 with one run scored as five others notched one hit each.

Greater Allegheny (2-8, 1-5 PSUAC) looks onward to traveling to Penn State Mont Alto for another PSUAC double-header, Thursday afternoon.
