McKeesport, Pa- A crucial game in the PSUAC didn't go as planned for the Greater Allegheny women, as Penn State Fayette ran past GA, 83-59. Down 21 at half time, the Greater Allegheny women clawed back to bring the score to 61-50. A 14-0 Fayette run would dash all hopes of a come back, and Fayette cruised to the finish.
Three Greater Allegheny women scored in double-figures, led by Freshman Guard Nakayla Layne's (Allderdice)15 points and 3 steals. Freshman Forward Christina Floyd (St. John Neumann) earned another double-double, with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Guard Megan Brinkos (McKeesport) also reached a double-double, at 12 points and 10 rebounds.
After the loss, the GA women now own an 8-11 overall record, and fall to 7-4 in the PSUAC. The women return to action Thursday Febuary 2, as they host non-conference foe Carlow, with the tip coming at 6 PM.
