Second Half Burst Not Enough as Women's Basketball Falls to WCCC

McKeesport, Pa- Down as many as 20 in the second half, the Greater Allegheny (10-7, 5-3 PSUAC) women's basketball team used a lengthy, 31-15 run- which included holding Westmoreland CC without a field goal for over four minutes- to cut the massive deficit to just four, before WCCC would hold on for the 66-59 victory.

Sophomores, forward Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, PA) and guard Nakayla Layne (Pittsburgh, PA), combined to score 25 points over that span, nearly completing the comeback.  Floyd tallied 19 total points on the night, while grabbing 17 rebounds. Layne led GA with 22 points, while also notching eight rebounds.  Sophomore guard Taylor Fulton (West Mifflin, PA) filled multiple columns on the statsheet yet again, with eight points, six rebounds, nine assists, and seven steals.

Greater Allegheny will now turn its focus back into PSUAC play, as they host Penn State Wilkes-Barre this Friday, January 25 in a 6 PM contest.
