Women's Basketball Ends Regular Season with Loss to NAIA Point Park

McKeesport, Pa- In their final regular season tune-up before embarking on the PSUAC playoffs, the Greater Allegheny (13-12, 8-6 PSUAC) women's basketball team suffered a 68-48 loss at the hands of visiting NAIA foe, Point Park.

Despite the final tally, GA battled hard throughout; a jumper from freshman guard Shelby Bendick (McKeesport, PA/McKeesport) at the 8:49 mark of the first half gave the home team a 19-16 advantage.  Point Park bounced back to lead 38-25 at the break, after grinding out a 22-6 run.

Sophomore guard Taylor Fulton (West Mifflin, PA/West Mifflin) ended her strong campaign with a double-double, notching 17 points and 10 rebounds.  Fellow sophomore guard, Ciera Hussey (Philadelphia, PA/Overbrook), was the lone other scorer in double-digits, as she netted 10 points off the bench.

Greater Allegheny will now turn its sights to the PSUAC playoffs, which begin Tuesday evening against Penn State Hazleton.  The first round tilt is set for 6 PM, with Hazleton winning the only previous meeting between the two teams- they defeated GA 56-52 back on January 26.
