Fulton Flexes on Pitt-Titusville for 67-61 Victory

Titusville, Pa - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's basketball team showed their strengths as the women overtook Pitt-Titusville, Tuesday night, in a 67-61 battle.

The first half opened in a tight battle between GA and Titusville. Buckets added by junior power forward Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa./Saints Neumann-Goretti), senior point guard Taylor Fulton (Duquesne, Pa./West Mifflin) and freshman point guard Shacobia Horn (Miami, Fla./Miami Southridge) swelled GA to a 11-8 lead within the first five minutes played.

Greater Allegheny maintained the lead for the remainder of the half, as three other GA players notched tallies to complete the first twenty minutes, 30-25. Junior guard Shelby Bendick (White Oak, Pa./McKeesport Area) added a lay-up alongside freshman power forward Tenisha Gibson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Obama Academy) achieving points through lay-up's and free throw's. Freshman guard Tra-Esha Carswell (Homestead, Pa./Steel Valley) closed out the first half with assisting her team with three points.

The dynamic duo of Fulton and Floyd teamed up and went on an eight point run, holding Titusville to just two within the first three minutes of second half action. Gibson and Bendick made their presence known on the offensive front, as both athletes paired up for 14 notched points for GA. Freshman power forward Aaquila Youngblood (Pittsburgh, Pa./Obama Academy) also managed to earn points for GA on a layup.

Fulton closed out the scoring drive for the game, as she posted the final Lion seven points to the final score. Fulton finished the game with 23 points and 14 assists to help her team overcome Pitt-Titusville. Taylor also went 7-for-10 at the free throw line, boosting the Greater Allegheny offense.  Floyd also had a solid showout, as she added 16 points and nine rebounds. Bendick recorded ten points alongside seven boards.

Greater Allegheny (2-3) travels to Carlow University on Thursday evening for a non-conference match-up. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
