McKeesport, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's basketball team dropped a 73-53 decision to Carlow University, Wednesday evening.

Senior power forward Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa./Sts. Neumann-Goretti) put up seven points for Greater Allegheny through the first nine minutes, as Carlow welled up to 16. Sophomore guard Tra-Esha Carswell (Homestead, Pa./Steel Valley) obtained a jumper before Floyd gained a free-throw point. Carswell placed a jumper to make the score 24-12 with six minutes to go until halftime.

Freshman guard Tori Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) put down a three-pointer before senior forward Kimberly Hall made a layup. T. Johnston hammered another three and completed two free-throws to wrap-up the scoring tally for Greater Allegheny through the first half, sending the teams to halftime with Carlow ahead, 35-22.

T. Johnston came out hot, notching two trey's to lift the Greater Allegheny tally 39-28. Floyd finished a layup before freshman guard Mandi Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) slashed both free-throw attempts. T. Johnston hit another three before freshman forward Kelly Moore (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen) made a jumper, moving the game to 60-38 with just nine minutes remaining in regulation. 

T. Johnston nailed another trey before Carswell completed both foul shots. Freshman forward Morgan McCallister (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin), Floyd and M. Johnston got in on the free-throw mix, all contributing buckets toward the home team tally. Floyd made a layup before Hall marked two more from the foul line. As the clock wound down, M. Johnston polished off a layup to complete the scoring drive for Greater Allegheny, Carlow ahead 73-53.

As a team, Greater Allegheny finished 55.6% (15-of-27) from the free throw line and 42.9% (6-of-14) from outside the arc. The Lions turned 14 points off of turnovers and 12 points on second chance. 

Floyd completed the game with another double-double, with 13 points and 17 rebounds. Floyd is now sitting in 1st place in the PSUAC and 2nd in the USCAA for rebounds per game (18.2) and 4th place in the PSUAC for points per game (17.3).

T. Johnston recorded 20 points with three rebounds and three assists. M. Johnston added seven points and five rebounds with two steals while shooting 83.3% (5-of-6) from the foul line. 

Greater Allegheny (2-4) gears up for Saturday, as they host their first Penn State University Athletic Conference match-up when Penn State DuBois comes to Wunderley Gymnasium. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
