Greater Allegheny Women's Basketball Stunted by Slippery Rock, 65-24

Slippery Rock, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's basketball team traveled to Slippery Rock, Monday night, where GA had some trouble against the Division II team, falling 65-24.

Slippery Rock jumped out to a 13-0 lead, six minutes into the contest before freshman guard Mandi Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) drained a three-pointer to get Greater Allegheny on the board. The home team continued to swell on as freshman forward Kelly Moore (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen) completed a jumpshot, putting GA down 23-5 with eight minutes to play.

Freshman forward Bethany Siebert (Tarrs, Pa./Southmoreland) hit a three before senior power forward Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa./Sts. Neumann-Goretti) bucketed the final points for GA before the half, Slippery Rock ahead 41-10.

Slippery Rock opened the second half with nine consecutive points before GA's Moore added a jumper. M. Johnston slashed two free-throws before Siebert answered with another trey, GA still behind 54-17 with eight minutes left of regulation.

Floyd added a free-throw as freshman guard Tori Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) finished both of her attempts. Moore, T. Johnston and M. Johnston all added foul line points with the clock winding down, Slippery Rock trumping Greater Allegheny 65-24.

As a team, Greater Allegheny shot 56.2% (9-of-16) from the free-throw line. Floyd finished the game with 16 rebound and three points while M. Johnston put up seven points and four rebounds. T. Johnston completed 75% (3-of-4) of her shots from the foul line. 

Greater Allegheny (3-5, 1-0 PSUAC) takes a break for fall and will come back to the court December 3rd. Both the men's and women's basketball teams travel to Westmoreland County Community College, where the women are set for tip-off at 6 p.m.
