McKeesport, Pa. - In their first Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) home game of the second semester, the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's basketball team fell to Penn State Lehigh Valley, Friday night, by the tally of 92-50.

Although freshman guard Jayla Ellis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) scored the first bucket of the game, Lehigh Valley then went on a eight-point run before sophomore forward Andrea Burroughs (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) snapped the streak with a free-throw, 8-3 LV. Freshman guard Ronnie Upsher (Pittsburgh, Pa./McKeesport) put up a layup and one as Ellis scored the next five to end the first quarter, Greater Allegheny trailing 26-11.

Upsher and Ellis accounted for the first points of the second-half as freshman forward Justice Mitchell (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) continued, 43-21. Junior guard Mandi Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) bucketed her first points of the contest just before half from the foul line, 47-23.

Upsher answered first in the second half with a jumper as Lehigh Valley continued to make distance, 58-25. Burroughs marked points in the paint before Upsher put up jumper points. Johnston added two from the foul line, 60-31 LV. Burroughs marked the last points of the third with a points in the paint, Lehigh Valley now out in front 68-33.

Johnston and Upsher laid on points from the foul line as Burroughs marked two more from the paint, 83-41 with just four minutes remaining in regulation. Johnston dropped four points as Upsher added a free-throw. Johnston continued to strike as she completed free-throws and a jumper as the clock wound down. Lehigh Valley taking their 12th win of the season, 92-50.

Johnston managed 16 points with four rebounds, four assists and two steals as she went 76.9% (10-of-13) from the foul line. Upsher continued with 14 points, six rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Burroughs pulled down 17 boards as the forward contributed seven points, one steal and a block. Mitchell had ten rebounds with four points and a block.

As a team, Greater Allegheny was out-rebounded 62-47 as the team managed a 62.5% (15-of-24) shooting percentage from the foul line. The Lions added 19 points off turnovers, 16 points in the paint and 12 points off second-chance.

Greater Allegheny (4-9, 2-5 PSUAC) looks onward to Saturday, as the the Lions welcome the second half of a PSUAC weekend. Penn State Brandywine comes to Wunderley Gymnasium for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
