Greater Allegheny's Phillips, Pierce Grab Player of the Week Honors

 
Our fall sports season has come to an end and as we head into Thanksgiving break we honor our best basketball performances from the past week!

Team of the Week 12

Penn State Greater Allegheny Men's Basketball

Penn State Greater Allegheny was picked as the top team in the PSUAC's preseason coaches poll. Their spot at the top was put to the test as soon as conference play opened, with two of the top four teams visiting McKeesport. Greater Allegheny was up to the challenge and lived up to the preseason hype by topping Penn State Mont Alto on Friday by 24 before sending York East with an 11-point loss on Saturday. Bryce Phillips led the charge by averaging a double-double over the weekend.

 

Men's Basketball Player of the Week 2

Bryce Phillips, Penn State Greater Allegheny

Bryce Phillips ended the opening conference week with 46 points and 30 rebounds, including 10 offensive boards, over two games as Penn State Greater Allegheny picked up wins over two of the preseason coaches poll's top four teams in the PSUAC. Phillips shot 59 percent from the floor and dished out 3.5 assists per game to propel his team to the top of the West Division.

Women's Basketball Player of the Week 2

Tomisha Pierce, Penn State Greater Allegheny

Tomisha Pierce led Penn State Greater Allegheny to opening conference weekend wins over Penn State Mont Alto and Penn State York. Pierce averaged 25.5 points per game while also pulling down nearly seven boards. A leader on both ends of the court, Pierce added five assists per game and 3.5 steals before the Thanksgiving break.
