Wrestling Places Three in NCWA Qualifiers

McKeesport, Pa- Three Greater Allegheny wrestlers participated in the NCWA Qualifiers this past weekend, looking to finish in the top six as needed to advance to the National Championships in Texas. 

Freshman Erik Rayman (North Huntindgon, PA/Norwin) pinned his first round opponent, before winning a 5-3 decision in a thrilling, four-overtime bout.  In the finals, Rayman suffered a defeat via pin, but took second place.

Sopohmore Matt Lago (Jeannette, PA/Penn-Trafford) bounced back from a first round defeat of 6-5, to win two straight matches by pin and major decision.  Lago then fell is next two matches, placing sixth.

Rounding out the successful qualifiers, freshman Genkie Stoutamire (Waldorf, MD/Thomas Stone)  battled back from a first round loss to pin his next opponent.  He then finished the day with an 8-7 decision over his familiar, Penn College opponent.
