Women's Volleyball Drops Opener to Waynesburg

MCKEESPORT, Pa- The Penn State Greater Allegheny Women's Volleyball team dropped its season opener 3-0, against the visiting Yellow Jackets from Waynesburg.

 

The Lady Lions started out strong in set 1, keeping the score close throughout. Waynesburg would however begin to pull away, winning 25-14. Sets two and three would end up mostly to the same tune, as Waynesburg won each by the scores of 25-13 and 25-9, respectively.  Freshman Megan Carroll (Ramona Covent Secondary School) led GA with 3 kills and 5 digs, with Junior Helena Vasser (Schenley) adding 10 digs. Freshman Alyssa Finnocchi (Baldwin) added 1 kill and 8 digs.

 

With the loss, Penn State Greater Allegheny's record falls to 0-1. The Lady Lions will be back in action this Saturday, September 3rd, when they will participate in a tournament at LaRoche College.
