Women's Volleyball Swept by Westmoreland CC

McKeesport, Pa- The Penn State Greater Allegheny Women's Volleyball team was swept 3-0 (15-25, 16-25, 11-25) by visiting Westmoreland CC.

The first set started out well for Greater Allegheny, as the score remained tight throughout. As would become a theme all night, Westmoreland CC put the game away with multiple scoring runs. GA simply couldn't get scoring runs of their own, and suffered a 25-15 setback.

In the second set, much remained the same. Greater Allegheny played strong, and would keep the score close, late into the set. However, another group of WCCC runs, coupled by GA unforced errors, doomed the Lady Lions, as they fell 25-16.

The third and final set saw the Westmoreland CC attack become too strong for Greater Allegheny to keep up with. Despite being down early, GA would battle back to within six, at 14-8. That would be as close as they would get, however, as WCCC continued to pound away, eventually coasting to a 25-11 victory.

Despite the loss, many Greater Allegheny women would turn in strong performances. Freshman Corinne Wilson (Bethel Park) led the GA attack with 7 Kills on 20 Total Attacks. Wilson also added 1 Block.  Fellow Freshmen Alyssa Finocchi (Baldwin) and Megan Carroll (Ramona Convent) each landed 3 Kills. Finocchi had 3 Digs, and added 2 Blocks, while Carroll contributed 5 Digs and 1 Block.

With the loss, the Penn State Greater Allegheny Women's Volleyball team drops to 1-8 overall, and remains 0-2 in PSUAC play. GA returns to the court Thursday, September 22, as it travels to Penn State New Kensington. The PSUAC match will tip off at 7:00 PM.
