Women's Volleyball Drops Pair of Conference Matches

Monaca, Pa- Traveling to Penn State Beaver for a quad-match, the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's volleyball team suffered two PSUAC setbacks, falling to Penn College 3-0 (12-25, 12-25, 14-25) before coming up short against Penn State Hazleton, 3-1 (25-21, 14-25, 14-25, 21-25).

  Sophomore Alyssa Finocchi (Baldwin, PA) accounted for five of GA's 11 kills against Penn College, while sophomore Audra Besnak (Steel Valley, PA) and freshman Haley Worden (Madonna, PA) each recorded two kills.  Finocchi also added two service aces and 11 digs, with Worden gathering seven assists.   

  In their second match of the afternoon against Hazleton, Finocchi again led Greater Allegheny in kills, drilling 12.  She also landed four service aces and earned seven digs.  Sophomore Christina Floyd (St. John Neumann, PA) also notched double-digits in kills, with 10.  Worden turned in a strong match as well, accumulating 16 assists and 12 digs. 

  The two losses drop Greater Allegheny's record to 6-12 overall and 4-5 in the PSUAC.  They'll look to rebound quickly, as they host Penn States Worthington Scranton and Wilkes-Barre in a quad-match tomorrow afternoon.  Matches are set to begin at 12 and 2 PM.
