Women's Volleyball Clinches Program's First Postseason Berth With 3-0 Win Over DuBois

Monaca, Pa- Wrapping up the most successful season in the program's history, the Greater Allegheny women's volleyball team clinched the #6 seed in the upcoming PSUAC playoffs following their 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-11) win over Penn State DuBois.  The achievement serves as the first time that the program has qualified for the postseason.

  Sophomore Alyssa Finocchi (Baldwin, PA) capped off her strong season with 13 kills and seven total blocks-  it was the sixth straight PSUAC match in which she recorded 10 or more kills.  Every remaining GA player had multiple kills, with four of them- sophomores Audra Besnak (Steel Valley, PA), Corinne Wilson (Bethel Park, PA), Christina Floyd (St. John Neumann, PA), and freshman Haley Worden (Madonna, PA)- notching three, while freshman Kayla Franklin (Thurston, MI) notched two.  Wilson and Floyd each had nine digs, with Worden accumulating 19 assists.

  Greater Allegheny finishes the regular season at 12-14 overall and 10-6 in the PSUAC.  They have clinched the sixth seed and will play the third seed, Penn State Brandywine, this Thursday, October 25.  Match time is TBA.
