GA Splits to Finish the Tip-Off Classic

Elizabeth, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's volleyball team closed the final day of the 2013 USCAA Tip-Off Classic with taking three out of five sets over Southern State CC Saturday afternoon.

Greater Allegheny went up against Rochester College to begin Saturday's matches.  Despite efforts from freshman Brianna Audette (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville), who posted 15 attacks and two kills, and sophomore Kayla Franklin (Detroit, Mich./Thurston), who posted 12 attacks and two digs, Greater Allegheny fell to Rochester 3-0.

The Lions moved on to compete for the fifth place standing with Southern State CC.  GA faced SSCC the previous day and won 25-15, 25-21 and 25-20.  It was a battle back and forth between the two teams.  Huge efforts contributed from junior Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa./St. John Neumann), who produced 37 attacks, 17 kills and eight digs, and junior Alyssa Finocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin), who posted 26 attacks, 11 kills, eight aces and 10 digs.  Freshman setter Adrielle Brisbon (Fort Washington, Pa./Friendly) served 16 assists, five aces and 13 digs.  Greater Allegheny took sets three, four and five with scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 15-5.

GA is back in action September 4th, as they travel to Penn State Fayette for a 7 p.m. start.
