GA Volleyball Drops to Penn State Beaver

Monaca, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's volleyball team traveled to Penn State Beaver Wednesday night for a PSUAC conference match-up.

The match opened with blazing efforts on both sides of the net. Going point-for-point, GA managed to achieve seven kills off ten attacks on the offensive side of the ball. Greater Allegheny took the first set 25-20.

Both teams came out hungry for the next win. GA earned eight kills compared to Beaver's eleven. A neck and neck battle sent the set into extra points, where Beaver came out victorious, 27-25.

The final two sets belonged to Beaver, as they came out on top (25-14, 25-18). Despite stand-out efforts from junior middle hitter Alyssa Finocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin), who posted eleven kills, seven digs and two block solos, GA went on to fall to the conference foe, 3-1. Freshman setter Adrielle Brisbon (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) assisted eleven kills alongside having five digs and a service ace. Sophomore Krystal Waller (Munhall, Pa./Munhall) helped out with twelve digs through four matches as well as finishing three kills off of five total attempts.

Greater Allegheny will see action again all weekend as the women gear up for a roadtrip. GA will be in Penn State Worthington-Scranton on Saturday, as they look to play Scranton and Penn State Wilkes-Barre in a set of games. On Sunday, GA will be playing at Penn College for another set of conference games. The will first play against Penn State Hazleton, then closing the weekend against Penn College.
