Greater Allegheny Closes Home Schedule Against Pitt-Greensburg

McKeesport, Pa. - The power-hitting dynamic duo junior middle hitter Alyssa Finocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) and freshman setter Adrielle Brisbon (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) set up for eleven kills and eleven assists, respectively, in the unfortunate defeat by Pitt-Greensburg 3-0, (25-9, 25-16, 25-19).

The pair teamed up for four of the nine points scored in the the first half. Junior middle hitter Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa./St. John Neumann) also assisted the team with a block solo and a kill.

GA came out hot in the second set, keeping close with UPG. To take the beginning swing, Floyd contributed a kill, Finocchi a block and Brisbon with a service ace. Freshman Raven Gribbins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oyler) helped out with a service ace as well as a kill. Big defensive efforts from sophomore Kenya West (Penn Hills, Pa.), as she got up for three block assists, paired up with big-timers Floyd and Finocchi.

Finocchi joined up with Brisbon for the first point, got up for a block solo, served an ace and earned a kill, all within the first five points. West sprung for a block solo within the point streak. Sophomore Kayla Franklin (Detroit, Mich./Thurston) contributed a service ace to inch GA closer Greensburg in the middle of the set. Finocchi and Brisbon paired up twice more before the end of the set. Floyd and freshman Brianna Audette (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) both contributed kills to the Greater Allegheny total 19 points.

Penn State Greater Allegheny travels to Penn State New Kensington for their final match of the regular season. The conference tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
