With Conference Win, GA Volleyball Advances to PSUAC Elite 8 Playoff Berth

New Kensington, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's volleyball team takes a 3-0 sweep over PSUAC conference competitor, Penn State New Kensington, Thursday night. This win advances the women to the 2013 PSUAC Elite 8 Playoffs.

Junior middle hitter Alyssa Finocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) was determined on both sides of the ball, hammering eleven kills on 37 total attacks with one service ace. Finocchi also assisted with 16 digs and four block solos. Both junior middle hitter Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa./St. John Neuman) and sophomore Kenya West (Penn Hills, Pa.) contributed four kills apiece. Floyd worked for three service aces and three block solos. West served four aces.

Freshman setter Adrielle Brisbon (Fort Washington, Pa./Friendly) assisted 18 of the 24 kills over the course of three sets. She also had one service ace alongside two digs. Freshman libero Brianna Audette contributed 13 digs. Sophomore Kayla Franklin (Detroit, Mich./Thurston) achieved two kills, two service aces and five digs.

Greater Allegheny took all three sets (25-20, 25-19, 25-19). With the win, the Penn State Greater Allegheny progresses to post-season play. The Lions will travel to Penn State Brandywine for the first round of playoffs. Game time is set for October 22nd at 6 p.m.
