Greater Allegheny Volleyball Swipes a 3-0 Victory from DuBois

McKeesport, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's volleyball team took three sets over Penn State University Athletic Conference foe, Penn State DuBois, Tuesday night.

The first set went 25-5, seeing contributions from sophomore setter Adrielle Brisbon (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly), as she hammered eight service aces alongside three assists. Freshman defensive specialist Tori Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) added six service aces through the first set, along with one kill. Senior middle hitter Alyssa Finocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) assisted her team with four service aces, one block solo and one kill through three total attempts. 

The second set ended at a tally of 25-10. Brisbon set up six assists with three service aces and one kill on two attempts. She also knocked down a block solo to boost her teams efforts. Freshman right side Laura Vazquez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cupey Maria Montessori) completed two kills through four total attempts through the second set, as she added three service aces, three digs and an assist. Senior middle hitter Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa./Sts. Neumann-Goretti) lifted her team with two service aces and a block solo.

The third and final set finished at a mark of 25-6, as Floyd capped off the final point with a service ace. Brisbon assisted all eight kills in the final set, three of them coming off of Finocchi's hand. Finocchi added four service aces, as Vazquez helped herself to three and Brisbon and Floyd both downed two apiece. Freshman right side Emily Taylor (Aliquippa, Pa./Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter) contributed one service ace with her one kill through the final set. Johnston went 3-for-3 on kills alongside getting down for two digs.

Johnston ended the game with a kill percentage of 71.4% (5-for-7), with six total service aces and three digs. Brisbon put up big numbers through three sets, as she marked 17 assists and 13 total service aces. Finocchi hammered seven kills with her eight total service aces and three digs.

Greater Allegheny looks ahead as they are scheduled to welcome Westmoreland County Community College to Wunderley Gymnasium, Wednesday evening. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start.
