GA Volleyball Comes up Big with Two Wins in PSUAC Play

Hazleton, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's volleyball team went to Penn State Hazleton, Sunday afternoon, where Greater Allegheny took a 3-1 victory over Penn State Lehigh Valley and a 3-0 win over Penn State Hazleton, to advance their Penn State University Athletic Conference win total to seven.

Lehigh Valley took the first set 25-21 before Greater Allegheny swept the next three by tallies of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-19. 

Senior middle hitter Alyssa Finocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) finished the four sets with 16 kills, eight block solos, three digs and two service aces. Sophomore setter Adrielle Brisbon (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) put up 29 assists and three kills to lift her team to their 3-1 triumph.

Sophomore defensive specialist Brianna Audette (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) got down for 22 digs to continue GA play through the four sets alongside freshman right side Laura Vazquez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cupey Maria Montessori), as she got down for eleven digs with five kills and three block solos. Freshman middle hitter Cheyenne Boulware (Centreville, Va./Centreville) placed seven kills, two service aces and a block solo.

Greater Allegheny moved on to Penn State Hazleton, where GA took all three by sets of 25-8, 25-14 and 25-18.

Finocchi came down on 12 kills and three block solos in the three sets. Brisbon assisted 26 times to move along the Greater Allegheny stride. Freshman right side Emily Taylor (Aliquippa, Pa./Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter) added five kills as Vazquez contributed another four along with six service aces and six digs. Senior middle hitter Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa./Sts. Neumann-Goretti) came down on eight kills for the win alongside five service aces, two block solos and three digs.

Greater Allegheny (14-7, 7-4 PSUAC) welcomes Penn State New Kensington to Wunderley Gymnasium, Tuesday, for another Penn State University Athletic Conference match-up. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
