Greater Allegheny Volleyball Falters in a Pair of PSUAC Matches

McKeesport, Pa. - On the road at Penn State Beaver and at home against Penn State Fayette, the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's volleyball team dropped two Penn State University Athletic Conference matches, 3-0, Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore libero Tori Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) placed six kills with eight digs, an assist and a service ace while sophomore middle hitter Laura Vazquez Diaz (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cupey Maria Montessori) lifted nine digs, two kills and one assist for Greater Allegheny. The three sets were settled by tallies of 25-11, 25-11 and 25-13.

The next day, Greater Allegheny hosted Penn State Fayette. Both M. Johnston and Vazquez Diaz put down three kills a piece while M. Johnston had five digs, one assist, one ace and a block solo. Vazquez Diaz contributed four digs and a block solo. Freshman setter Courtney Odell Shadd (Hanover Park, Ill./Bartlett) dished out seven assists with two kills. All three sets ended by a tally of 25-8.

Greater Allegheny (0-4, 0-3 PSUAC) will take a break from PSUAC action and host Westmoreland County Community College on Friday night in Wunderley Gymnasium. The match is set to begin at 6 p.m.
