Lion Volleyball Squanders to Beaver, 3-0

Monaca, Pa. - Through three sets of Penn State University Athletic Conference action, the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's volleyball fell to rival Penn State Beaver, Saturday afternoon, by a margin of 3-0.

Freshman libero Hayley Maksin (Port Vue, Pa./South Allegheny) got down for 14 digs while junior outside hitter Laura Vazquez-Diaz (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cupey Maria Montessori) got down for ten digs with five kills, a block and a service ace. Sophomore setter Courtney Odell Shadd (Hanover Park, Ill./Bartlett) placed 14 assists with two kills and a service ace. Junior outside hitter Emily Taylor (Aliquippa, Pa./Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter) placed a team-high seven kills and two total blocks through the contest.

Despite hard work from the team as a whole, the trio of sets were decided by tallies of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-19.

The Penn State Greater Allegheny Lions (5-8, 4-6 PSUAC) looks forward to their final home contest of the season, as Chatham comes to Wunderley Gymnasium, Tuesday October 11th. The Lion Senior Day is set to begin at 7 p.m.
