PSUGA's Offense Leads Team into Match-up With Point Park

McKeesport, PA. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny Volleyball team (2-5, 1-1) split the day at the PSU Mont Alto tri match falling in conference play to Mont Alto 3-1 and coming back to beat Christendom College 3-1. They look to continue the successful ways of the second game of the day when they host Point Park on Monday at 7 p.m.

PSUGA has gotten big contributions this season from several of its key contributors from last season helping them to a 1-1 start in conference play. They have four very qualified attackers on offense who give them several options to score points.

Leading the way for the second straight season is sophomore Alix Ellis (Derry, PA./Derry Area HS). Ellis led the team with 14 kills in the loss against PSU-Mont Alto yesterday and in six matches played this season, she leads the team with 73 kills on 181 total attacks.

PSUGA features four other players with 20 or more kills making them a feared foursome. Sophomore Sueriah Timsah (Mesquite, TX./West Mesquite HS) is behind Ellis with 44 kills while Alexa Martell (Elizabeth, PA./Elizabeth Forward HS) has added 36.

Helping to set up those attackers are a pair of freshmen setters Andrea Ghiloni (Granville, OH./Granville HS) and Nicole Caballero (Miami, FL./Florida Christian School). Ghiloni leada the team with 108 assists and is able to get to any spot on the court to successfully complete the set.

All of PSUGA's stars will have to be clicking on all cylinders when they host NAIA powerhouse Point Park. The Pioneers enter Monday's game 8-1 coming off a 3-1 win over Washington & Jefferson last Tuesday night. After dropping the first set 25-23, Point Park came back to take the final three sets and win their fourth straight game.
