Volleyball Drops USCAA Tip-off Tournament Finale to PSU-DuBois 3-0

Monaca, PA. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny Volleyball team wrapped up the United States Collegiate Athletic Association tip-off tournament on Saturday falling to PSU-DuBois 3-0. Despite going 0-3 on the weekend, PSUGA got some good work in as they continue to grow as a team and prepare for conference play.

PSUGA got a taste of Penn State University Athletic Conference play and were competitive in all three sets. They forced two win-by-two scenarios and were competitive in each of the three sets.

The first set saw PSUGA battle back to the the game at 24-24 late in the first set. PSU-DuBois would secure the final two points and handed PSUGA the 26-24 and took a 1-0 lead in the match. PSUGA has shown a quick start ability early in the season, but couldn't build any momentum early in this match.

The second set saw PSU-DuBois jump out to an early lead in the set and ride that to a comfortable 25-22 set win to take a 2-0 lead. PSUGA battled throughout the third set, once again forcing a win-by-two scernario. The team's traded points before Dubois hit a two-point tally to take the 27-25 win and complete the clean sweep.

Sophomore Sueriah Timsah (Mesquite, TX./West Mesquite HS) continued her strong weekend leading the offense with five kills and a .238 hitting percentage. Timsah finished the weekend with 19 kills and has been one of the top attackers for PSUGA.

With the tip-off tournament over, PSUGA now has a week to prepare for their first home game on September 9th. The young team will look to build on the positives of thr weekend and take that into the rest of the season.

PSUGA will return to action on Monday September 9th when they take on Carlow for their home opener inside the Wunderly Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
