Cross Country Takes Third Overall, Second Among PSUAC Teams, at Scranton Invitational

Scranton, Pa- In just their second meet of the season, the Penn State Greater Allegheny cross country team turned in a historic effort.  The runners finished third overall and second among PSUAC teams in competition.  The second place finish is the program's best PSUAC team finish, to go along with three individual runners finishing in the top 15, which is also a program first.  

  Sophomore Maria Marroquin (Benjamin Banneker, D.C.) finished in 14th place overall- 9th among PSUAC women- with a time of 35:53.  A total of 38 women runners participated in the race.

  Sophomore Brandon Jacobs (South Allegheny, PA) led the male runners for GA, finishing 12th overall- 8th among PSUAC men- with a time of 33:33.  Freshman Rob Meier (Penn-Trafford, PA) came in 14th overall- 10th among PSUAC men- at 33:50, with fellow freshman Nathan Ferraro (West Mifflin, PA) placing 15th overall- 11th among PSUAC men- with a time of 33:52.  A total of 86 male runners participated in the race.

  Following their strong performance, the Greater Allegheny cross country team next turns its attention to their own invitational.  The Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational takes place next Saturday, September 15, with the race beginning at 11:00 AM.
